Tempered or thermal glass is another name for safety glass. What makes tempered (thermal) glass different from standard glass? The way that tempered glass is manufactured—extreme heating followed by rapid cooling—causes the glass to be much harder than standard glass. And, because of the way that it’s created, if tempered glass were to shatter, it would do so in small oval-shaped pebbles, not sharp-edged fragments, like standard glass. P M Glass uses tempered or safety glass throughout Toronto and the GTA in any situation where standard glass might be a potential hazard. An example is in the shower. If a shower door shatters it can be a major safety hazard, which is why we offer shower doors with tempered safety glass.
Our team has more than 20 years of experience in glass, making us more than capable of understanding which type of glass is required in which type of applications. Contact P M Glass in Scarborough today with your questions or to make an appointment.
